Definitions of Terms

"Royalty Free"
Images sold with unlimited use for a one time fee. Although MSTOCK has images that allow for an extremely broad usage, because we pay all of our artists a commission, we do not use the term Royalty Free. If you would like unlimited use on the images, please do a search for our “Broad Use” images.

"Broad Use" (BU)
This is the term we use to classify images that allow for an extremely wide range of use. Pay one fee, use the image for as long as you want, a many times as you want. Broad Use images may be used for an unlimited number of purposes from editorial to advertising. Usage of Broad Use images is limited only by the size of the file purchased, along with the other terms listed in the use contract.

"Rights Managed" (RM)
Rights Managed images are licensed on a use by use basis. The exact terms of use must be specified to determine a fee for licensing. There are many variables in the fee structure of Rights Managed images. All agreements can be made through e-mail or direct contact with one of our agents.

Comps, Previews, or Special
MSTOCK allows for the downloading of images on our website for composite purposes. The images on the website are watermarked to protect the copyright. Non-watermarked images in our BU line of images may be purchased and used for the same low fee. In the case of RM images, special arrangements can be made or low-res version can be downloaded from the website for a nominal fee.

Images Sizes
We have three typical sizes for download with our Broad Use images.

Basic - largest side = 596 pixels. This is equal to 1.92” @ 300 dpi.
Intermediate - largest side = 1800 pixels. This is equal to 6” @ 300 dpi.
Large - largest size = 2700 pixels. This is equal to 9” @ 300dpi.
