Molbio Diagnostics IPO

Molbio Diagnostics IPO: issue date, Lot size, price, everything you need to know

Molbio Diagnostics is a leading point-of-care diagnostics company focused on rapid, accurate testing for infectious and non-communicable diseases. Its IPO is a mix of a fresh issue and offer for sale, with proceeds from the fresh issue aimed at expanding R&D and manufacturing capabilities, while existing shareholders partially monetise their stake.

Molbio Diagnostics is set to launch a ₹940 crore IPO, combining a fresh issue of ₹200 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of 91.66 lakh shares. While the fresh issue proceeds will go toward strengthening the company’s R&D, manufacturing, and operational capabilities, the OFS portion will allow existing shareholders to partially monetise their stake, making this a mix of growth capital and shareholder exit.

About Molbio Diagnostics

Molbio Diagnostics is a Goa-based point-of-care molecular diagnostics company built around its proprietary Truenat platform, a portable PCR system designed for decentralised healthcare settings. The platform supports testing for 30 diseases through 42 assays, including TB, COVID-19, hepatitis, HIV, and HPV, and is used across more than 80 countries.

The company operates multiple manufacturing facilities in India, including units in Goa, Visakhapatnam, and Bengaluru, and it generates revenue from both device sales and recurring test-kit sales. Its Truenat TB chip is one of the few WHO-endorsed rapid molecular tests for initial TB diagnosis and rifampicin resistance detection.

Molbio has shown strong improvement in profitability and operating performance over the last three years. Revenue rose sharply from FY24 to FY26, EBITDA margins improved, and the company moved to solid profit in FY25 and FY26.

Sector & Market Context

The diagnostics industry benefits from rising awareness, decentralised testing, and demand for faster point-of-care solutions. Molbio’s positioning is attractive because its products serve low-resource and high-volume healthcare settings, where speed, portability, and accuracy matter most.

The business also has strong entry barriers: years of R&D, approvals, patent protection in over 100 countries, and a differentiated product platform that is already deployed across many markets. That said, it faces risks from regulatory dependence, competitive innovation, execution on international expansion, and the challenge of maintaining growth in a specialised segment.

Key Considerations for Investors

Strengths

  • Differentiated diagnostics platform with global recognition and WHO-endorsed TB testing.
  • Strong revenue and profit growth trend over FY23–FY25.
  • Asset-light recurring opportunity from test kits, in addition to device sales.
  • Fresh issue proceeds support future capacity, R&D, and product development.

Risks

  • The issue has a meaningful OFS component, so a large share of proceeds goes to selling shareholders rather than the business.
  • Diagnostics is a highly regulated space, and product adoption depends on approvals, pricing, and reimbursement dynamics.
  • The company’s growth depends on continued execution in new geographies and product categories.

Opportunities

  • Increasing demand for decentralised and rapid diagnostics across India and overseas.
  • Expansion of the product portfolio beyond TB into broader infectious and non-communicable disease testing.
  • Higher installed base can support more recurring consumables revenue over time.

Conclusion

Molbio Diagnostics’ IPO offers investors exposure to a high-quality diagnostics platform with proven technology, strong international reach, and improving financial performance. The valuation, issue mix, and OFS component should be weighed against the company’s growth runway, product differentiation, and the long-term opportunity in point-of-care healthcare diagnostics.
