25th July to 31st July |
| | Indian equities closed July on a firm note. The Nifty 50 reclaimed 24,400 and the Sensex hovered around 78,000 as investors rotated into financials and autos, cheered strong Q1 earnings. This was not only on the back of strong numbers, but also because two big macro levers finally turned supportive. First was a sharp fall in crude oil prices after a spike in the previous week., Then there was Foreign Portfolio Investors reversing their four month selling streak with nearly ₹17,000 crore worth of Indian shares bought in July. Together, these shifts in oil and FPI flows had a broader impact on markets than individual earnings beats alone, helping the Nifty and Sensex recover even on days when results were mixed. | |

| | | | Global Signals | |
| Asian Markets
Asian markets ended the week on a positive note as investors welcomed strong corporate earnings and easing concerns over global trade. Japan gained after technology stocks recovered, while China markets was supported by hopes of further economic stimulus. Even though investors kept an eye on the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank's policy decisions, improving risk appetite and stable crude oil prices helped lift sentiment across Asia.
| |
European Markets
European traded cautiously for most of the week before ending with modest gains. Investors closely followed the European Central Bank’s policy moves, which kept interest rates unchanged. it’s the commentary suggested policymakers were waiting for more evidence that inflation was under control before considering further rate cuts. Strong corporate earnings supported select stocks, but investors remained watchful of trade developments and the economic outlook across the region.
| | US Markets
US Markets were volatile but finished the week higher as strong earnings from major technology companies boosted investor confidence. The biggest event of the week was the US Federal Reserve keeping its policy rate unchanged as expected. This indicates it would continue to monitor inflation and economic data before making any any moves. The combination of encouraging corporate results and a cautious but stable Fed helped Wall Street recover despite continued uncertainty around trade tariffs and global growth.
|
The week began with markets trying to recover from the previous week’s pressure, and by Friday, that recovery had turned into a three-session winning streak. The story now moves into another important earnings-heavy week. Results from big companies from telecom, energy, consumption and banking names could hold sway over markets. At the same time crude oil prices and foreign investor flows will remain important broader triggers.
