Are you concerned about the security of your stock holdings?
To address this concern, SEBI and CDSL have made the Verify Holdings process mandatory.
Through Verify Holdings, you authorise your broker to execute your sell transactions through the eDIS mechanism. A TPIN is required to complete this verification process.
TPIN stands for Transaction Personal Identification Number.
A TPIN is a unique PIN that enables you to verify your holdings and securely complete your sell transactions.
There are two ways to verify your holdings.
The first option is to verify each stock individually at the time of selling.
Alternatively, you can tap on Verify Holdings from the Equity section of your Portfolio and verify all the stocks in your portfolio at once. This helps you avoid repeatedly verifying holdings throughout the day.
One important thing to remember is that this verification remains valid only for a single day. This means that if you wish to sell your shares on the following day, you will need to verify those holdings again.
Since a TPIN is required to verify holdings, let us understand how to generate one.
There are two ways to generate a TPIN:
Through the m.Stock app or website
Directly through the CDSL website
Please note that a TPIN remains valid for 90 days.
First, log in to your m.Stock app or website.
Next, go to Portfolio and tap on Equity Portfolio.
Here, tap on Verify Holdings.
You will then be redirected to the CDSL page, where you will see two options:
Enter TPIN and Verify Holdings
Request New TPIN
To generate a new TPIN, tap on Request New TPIN.
A six-digit TPIN will be sent to your registered email ID and mobile number.
You can then use this TPIN to verify your holdings through eDIS.
If you already know your TPIN, tap on Enter TPIN.
You will be redirected to the CDSL page, where you need to enter your TPIN and click on Verify.
On the next page, you will see details of your current holdings, such as the ISIN number, script name, quantity, and other relevant information.
Review these details carefully.
Then enter the six-digit OTP received on your registered mobile number and email ID in the OTP field provided.
After that, tap on the Verify button.
Once the verification is successful, a confirmation message will be displayed on the screen.
You can now execute your sell transactions.
You can also generate a TPIN directly through the CDSL website.
Visit the CDSL eDIS page and click on "Click Here to Generate TPIN for eDIS Transaction."
Enter your 16-digit BO ID and PAN.
Your BO ID can be found in the Profile section of your m.Stock account.
Next, authenticate yourself using the six-digit OTP sent by CDSL to your registered email ID and mobile number.
Once this step is completed, your TPIN will be generated and sent to your registered email ID and mobile number.
